The largest wading bird is the Great Blue Heron. They stand approximately 4 feet tall and can have a wingspan up to 7 feet. Their legs are long so they can wade in deep water to catch fish. They have been known to spear catfish with their beaks. They eat rodents, insects, and sometimes large rats. They are awkward in flight. One of the most unusual prehistoric looking birds.
Original painting was donated to Raineer Dental (Dr. VanDerschelden), Lake Tapps, WA.
